I seem to be producing a lot of wintery images lately. Gee, could that be because it's winter? That might seem obvious to most people, but it doesn't feel like winter where I live in South Florida. I guess I make winter images so I can have at least a virtual experience of cold weather!

Free Gingerbread Cookie Christmas Wreath Embellishment

This free personal use/scrap for hire Christmas wreath scrapbook embellishment is constructed of gingerbread cookies in lovely pastel colors. Technically speaking, the wreath is a 300 dpi transparent PNG, so it can be used as either a scrapbooking photo frame, as well as an embellishment.

The iced gingerbread cookies used to construct this Christmas wreath look realistic enough to eat. But watch out for those silver balls if you have old fashioned metal teeth fillings; they feel just like aluminum foil when you bite down on them! ;-) (If you've never experienced the pain of foil contacting metal fillings; trust me,you wouldn't like it.)

Free glitter snowflake scrapbook element

This free shiny gold glitter snowflake embellishment is a PNG file, which means it has a transparent background. This is a handy non-religious Christmas image that will work in a lot of different settings. It's from the current commercial use scrapbook kit I'm in the process of creating, called "Ice, Ice Baby." The kit got its name from the jewels and snowflakes (both qualifying as "ice") it will contain. There will be lots of winter bling in some fun colors; this image is pretty conservative in comparison. I'll post a link to the kit here once it's done. In the meantime, here's a freebie for you! Also, if you're interested, I just posted my huge Fall Magic scrapbook kit, which is free to download.

This free personal use digital Christmas wreath features pine branches, ferns, red berries, baby's breath, vines and a single red rose. It's perfect when you want a classic look for the holidays.

The wreath is in PNG format, which means it's transparent, so you can use it as a scrapbook embellishment or a photo frame. It's 300 dpi and very large, so you can easily use it in print form.

This free Christmas scrapbook paper has the look of vintage brocade, with a few modern touches thrown in. The sage and magenta color scheme is enhanced by the ornate vintage brocade stripes and the slightly more modern Christmas stockings and presents that are repeated throughout the pattern.

The images for this vintage-inspired Christmas scrapbooking paper come from the talented designer Skimersan of Far Far Hill. I purchased the Christmas stocking and present elements from her, but the brocade paper design was a freebie. She also has a large selection of other freebies on her blog, including pin-up girls, flower frames and clusters, many brocade papers and plenty of other wonderful stuff.

This free gingerbread man scrapbook paper design matches the gingerbread man Christmas scrapbook journaling card I previously posted on this blog. It also matches two of my free Christmas clip art images. One of the images looks just like the gingerbread man shown on this scrapbook paper design and the other is the same but he's wearing a Santa hat. Between the clip art, the journaling card and this scrapbook paper, they make quite a nice set. There are also many other free Christmas images on that page. This cute little free gingerbread man Christmas scrapbook journaling card matches a variety  of my free Christmas scrapbook papers and Christmas clip art, so you can create your own coordinated sets of images. He's such a friendly-looking and warm symbol of the holiday season, I hope you'll find all kinds of uses for him. Given that he hails from the kitchen himself, he might even make a nice holiday recipe card.


I found the gingerbread man image on Picnik, where I also created the rest of the layout. Picnik is free and is a hoot to work with, so I highly recommend it. Click the link in this sentence to read my tutorial that will teach you how to create your own clip art using the Picnik interface. You can also alter photos there. That's actually what it was originally designed for, so it has plenty of features to enhance photographs.

This ivory-colored vintage children Christmas scrapbook paper is actually comprised of two vintage art elements: a vintage Christmas gift tag and vintage Christmas clip art of Victorian children playing around a Christmas tree. The combination makes a sweet, old fashioned backdrop for a scrapbook, handmade holiday card or any number of other crafts projects. As a bonus, if you click the links in the first sentence, you'll be taken to pages that contain the two clip art elements, so you can use them as embellishments or as components of other crafts. Those pages also contain lots of other Christmas images, so they would probably keep you busy downloading for a while!

Free Vintage Christmas Stockings Scrapbook Paper

This vintage Christmas scrapbook paper isn't actually a scanned image of old paper but it is comprised of three very old Christmas stocking images I had in my collection. You can find the individual pieces of art on my vintage Christmas images hub or on this post on the blog you're reading now. You can also see another version of this paper on my new hub, along with many other winter and Christmas scrapbook papers.

The three Christmas stockings are all quite different, yet they fit well together. One is a striped stocking filled with holiday toys and some sort of strange foliage. The second one reminds me of that old song "Dolly with a Hole in Her Stocking" that one of my aunts used to sing, because in this case "Dolly" actually lives inside a stocking with a hole at the toe. And the third one looks like it's a man's black sock with a red heel and toe that someone emblazoned with antique-looking lettering that reads, "Christmas Stocking." It's a good thing they did, because without that lettering you'd just think it was a plain illustration of a sock. They were all obviously created by different artists and they could even be from different eras, I think they fit well together nonetheless.

I hope you enjoy using this paper design and can make something fun out of it. Feel free to leave a comment telling me what you made. I'd love to know. Personally, I'm thinking about experimenting with soaking paper doilies in tea to give them an aged look, drying them out and combining them with this image and some ribbon and bows to make Christmas cards. I'm feeling inspired!
